Free childcare

Funded hours and Tax-Free Childcare

We accept all the government childcare schemes in England. Your family may qualify for one or more of these.

Working parents
Up to 30 hours a week from 9 months old, term time, if you and any partner work and meet the earnings rules.
All 3 and 4 year olds
15 hours a week (570 hours a year), whatever your income.
Some 2 year olds
15 hours a week if your family gets certain support, such as Universal Credit, or if your child is looked after or has special educational needs.
Tax-Free Childcare
For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the government adds £2, up to £2,000 per child a year. Use it for hours the funding doesn't cover.

How to claim

  1. Apply on childcarechoices.gov.uk.
  2. HMRC sends you an 11-digit code if you qualify.
  3. Give us the code and we apply the hours to your bill.
  4. Reconfirm every three months to keep the hours.

If your child's parents live apart, only one of you can hold the code. Self-employed parents and company directors may need to show proof of income.

The government changes the rules from time to time, so we'll help you work out your entitlement on your visit.

Questions

Questions parents ask

What ages do you take?

3 months to 5 years. Babies start in the Nest (3 months to 2 years) or Leaves (18 months to 2 years). Toddlers move to Caterpillar (2 to 3), and preschoolers to Sunny, Rainbow or Butterfly.

What are your opening hours?

We open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year except bank holidays and a short break at Christmas.

What are the staff-to-child ratios?

We meet the legal ratios as a minimum: one adult to three children under two, one to four for two-year-olds, and one to eight for children aged three to five. Every child has a named key person.

Do you provide meals?

Yes. Our cook makes breakfast, a morning snack, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack in the nursery kitchen, which holds a food hygiene rating of 5. We cater for allergies and dietary needs.

How much is the registration fee?

We confirm the registration fee and deposit after your visit, so we can talk you through them in person. Call us if you'd like the figures first.

What happens during settling in?

Your child has three short settling-in sessions in their room with their key person. You're welcome to stay nearby. We go at your child's pace.

How will I hear about my child's day?

Our staff post photos, meals, nappy changes and milestones on the Parentzone app as they happen. You can also talk to them at drop-off and pick-up.

Do you support children with special educational needs?

Yes. Our qualified SENCO staff write a personal plan with you and refer your child to specialists when needed. Harrow Borough named our sensory room a Champion.

Where can I park?

There's free parking on Buckingham Road and nearby streets. We don't have our own car park.

What's the nearest station?

Edgware station, on the Northern line, is about ten minutes' walk away. Several buses stop on Station Road.

Do you have another branch?

Yes. Our Islamic Montessori nursery is at 309 Preston Road, Harrow HA3 0QQ. Find out about Preston Road.
